We’ve started an annual tradition of creating meebo predictions for the upcoming year (resolutions are way too hard to keep). On Sunday, we posted the results from our 2006 predictions (*cough* we weren’t terribly accurate). There were also things from this year that we would have never predicted: Elaine got a new kitten, 20% of our team came from overseas (David and Paul are from Italy and England), pink became our most popular text color, meebo was translated in over 60 languages, and we moved (twice!). Here are some (sometimes silly) predictions for 2007 that we’ll revisit in 364 days:
Elaine’s Predictions
• one of this year’s meebo products will be a download (not a web app)
• we’ll have hosted meebo meetups on every continent
• meebo will create an emoticon for each goat breed recognized by the American Dairy Goat Association (she used to live on a goat farm)
Sandy’s Predictions
• a MySpace profile will finally make the top ten meebo fan list
• Danny will write a piece of C or JavaScript code on his own!
• meebo will be mentioned in some popular pop song
Seth’s Predictions
• Elaine will (finally) become a treo addict (she really did come very close this year!)
• we’ll have a blog that gets over 1000 comments (so far 306 responses is our very best)
• meebo will host an official four-square tournament

I love that the first thing I thought was “YEAH!!! 4 SQUARE!” thinking I’d be the biggest nerd in the world for getting stoked on that, but lo and behold, I am not alone! I knew I loved meebo for a reason. I was in a dodgeball league for a while, and it was fab! So 4 square is right up my alley.

You shouldn’t make meebo just a downloadable messanger. I use meebo because I can talk to my friends when I’m at work. If you make it just a downloadable messenger I would have no reason to use meebo. It would be cool if you make meebo both a web app and a downloadable messenger. Think about it this way, making meebo just a downloadable messenger you’ll be like everyone else, you’ll have an egde if you do both.

Roseanna – as they have this huge infrastructure in place for the web based messaging I (hopefully) really doubt they’d drop all that and go desktop only. But a desktop option? That’d rock. In fact…
I hope the downloadable thing is something like this (shameless self-link to my own cut at “Desktop Meebo”).
A fancier desktop option with some api hooks would be sweet!

I don\’t think Meebo becomes a download is a good idea. The very best idea of Meebo ever is it is an web app. There are a lot, lot, lot of good IM program in the world now. I think so too., come on let me install the aol instant messenger but I had to download it first but I think it would give a good example and good opportunity to let the excerpt do it instead just for the people who need or doesn\’t know how to install it I hope no people like the lawyers or the newscast people or even the president of the United States of America knows that all of the teenagers like between the youngest or the oldest would help them settle these messenger as long as the people do not talk back or even say inappropriate words on the instant messenger and I hate it when people always says inappropriate word too when a person says one inappropriate words dat mean you do not talk back to them, you just ignore and just to make sure that they apologize or walk away and get away from that person for good! they don\’t want to get intlo trouble by the police or anyone at all do they? I don\’t think so! because police only do was looking for bad murder people and a suspect people and those bad people get arrested from them and they drive them straight to the police station and they also go straight to jail! the best thing about meebo is that it is NOT a download (and also the best web based aim/msn client). I actually deleted AIM and Trillian from my computer 2 weeks after I found meebo, as a network supervisor I encourage the use of Meebo over downloaded apps for IM (mostly since its a t school and downloading is partially disabled). I suggest that if you plan on creating a download you make sure it is something that wont work as a web based program. Either that or surprise me with something amazing I can\’t even imagine yet.

Hey! I think that you should also change these comment boxes so that you have to put your meebo ID (that no one can see) in so that someone doesn’t put more than one comment so it is more accurate. Also people could have more than one E-mail address and put in different names every time.

Being a professional 4-Square player in the late 60’s and early 70’s I’m well trained and prepared for the tournament.
Having 2 brothers and a sister, we were able to get a game going quite easily.

One other thing that would be great if you could make possible by the end of this year would be a downloadable version of meebo, so that I can visit other webpages and have an icon on my computer for easier access to all of my friends. We’ll make it to 1000, and there is already a product that is downloadable; the meebo repeater. Hey it works great for me, though i would like to change it so i can get full access (web access) from school through my computer @ home ..
GREAT IDEA:
The ability to have a list of ppls running meebo repeater who are willing to have others connect to them; i would have to be updated hourly, if possible

Here’s a suggestion for ‘07, meta-contacts. It’s great being multi-protocol, but occasionally, other people also have a screenname for every IM client, which means they appear 4 times in your buddy list. It would be really nice if you could group names like this into one “master” name that would show up in your buddy list.
