A few weeks ago we started seeing a few changes around meebo… Andrea started receiving more phone calls, we saw a sudden increase in the daily number of meebo account registrations, and people outside meebo were talking about the meebo repeater a lot more than usual.
Turns out these were all side effects of the new meebo product site redesign. We started this project because it seemed like “the right thing to do.” The pages were a little outdated, the experience felt inconsistent with meebo’s core, and first-time visitors didn’t have a place to learn more about meebo. We never would have guessed that a better explanation of meebo would substantially increase account registrations, that people interested in joining meebo would get more excited after reading these pages, or that we’d get more visitors dropping by because our address was easier to find (Michael, nice to meet you and your friend last week!).
It’s worth mentioning that we’ve been using the Django framework to build the site and that’s allowed us to move much faster than if we had hand-coded each page individually. We highly recommend it – two thumbs up!
We’re about halfway through the project right now. We have a few new updates we’re pushing in the upcoming weeks followed by another initiative to hopefully tackle the job and help sections. Of course, right now it’s difficult to predict what tangible benefits those efforts might yield. Will we see more intern applications? Will more or fewer people write to us with questions? All fun things to anticipate and try to predict

I love meebo! I installed AIM on Vista and my computer burst into flames and melted! Thanks AOL! But yeah, some more smilies would be great. I rarely use IM apps so Meebo allowing me to log on all of my accounts is priceless. Meebo is fantastic and suits my needs very well. Just include more smilies please!

Meebo is excellent for us to integrate those messaging application. QQ users are huge in China. Hopefully, meebo could integrate QQ as well.

Facebook, just created a chat application. Any chance there will be FB chat support for Meebo. I know it just came out last Friday, but that would be a cool feature request to have FB chat on Meebo. Then all chats will be under 1 roof. Continue the great work!

i thynk this is a grate idea. Nice job. And make Meebo into something alot of people want to go on. Not like now. Because i know alot of people who use to go on Meebo,but now dont beause it is not interesting and fun. Yes i know this is stupid, but change Meebo a little. Make it look more like what it should look like. I agree with with butt. I think you guys should really get new backgrounds and change it a little bit. Or maybe you can do something like what mysapce does. You let everyone decided what background they want. And that makes things much funner and cooler. Something i would like to see in meebo is a “skins preview page” where you can see all skins backgrounds instead of me having to trying one by one.

Problem with the Amount of Times that i have had Network Interuptions.
I was sending a File to a Freind when Meebo Detected a Very Bad Network Interuption. I went and Checked the Router and it was Fine. My dad still stayed online.
I need help ASAP. it is Making me Feel like meebo Needs to be Destroyed or Take out the Servers that Lag. My freind was not online when i Came back. i feel very Upset.

Our entire office uses meebo now because regular msn doesnt work for us anymore. Our sys admin guy sent an email around recommending it to everyone. Since using it I have done the same. I have already converted most of my msn using freinds.

Meebo is a great service. I like the ideas mentioned above about custom avaliable messages and skin previews; i think that would be nice.
About three days or so ago, I noticed that occasionally the meebo will freeze up for a few seconds. This became annoying, as it started to happen more frequently the later I was on. Last night, I couldn’t even type out one line without it freezing. I use firefox.

Meebo should really start working on integrating the new facebook chat feature into the existing suite so that people will be able to chat with their friends who use aim or Facebook at the sametime using one site.

Too many good websites have ruined themselves in trying to take the same kind of environment as myspace. I like meebo how it is right now. It’s simple, without ads popping up in your face or ridiculous shiny bells and whistles. I don’t know why so many people spam on comments or ask for these things. But of course I have enough faith in you to know that the majority doesn’t want things like that. Meebo is great already.

The reason for using meebo is that most colleges won’t let you use IMs anywhere, but the website sign ons are another story. We use it for that reason, and that we can hide ourselves especially if we don’t want to be seen by certain people.

Once a time I never knew anything about meebo.com, I did not even know that there is a site called meebo,,,,,,,this info………..I got from my friends and I am really thankful to them and to the meebo.com creators. I really appriciated the good job from u all and through this I can easily manage to have inter communications between my various friends……………and I too expect to see this progressions on the upcoming days with more vast features and entertainment. I am a Meebo fan and I use it on a daily basis. It’s nice to hear how much people are discovering and loving it too. On the redesign topic, the layout keeps getting better and better. Although I am a Mac user and if I log on Meebo through Firefox, the menu for account, preferences, meebo me, help and audio doesn’t appear. It works perfectly on Safari though. Just a heads up for you guys. And also, I wanted to know if meebo repeater will have a mac version as well. Keep up the good work, Meebo Team!

I’ve been using meebo for a week now and I’m loving it. I use so many different computers that is the only solution that fits my needs. Thanks a lot for the hard work.
A couple of sugestions:
Differente pictures for diferent conections. I use MSN for family and ICQ for work and I would love to show two different pictutes on them.
Possibility to change User Name in the ICQ conection. My name is my UIN and it cannot be changed what makes dificult for new added contacts to recognize me.

I LOVE meebo!! It is very cool because you don’t have to download it like you do AIM and it is very fast and it doesn’t take like 10 million days!!! Thank you SOO much!! Could you make a status menu too and not just a away message?? Meebo ROCKS!! Keep up the good work!! Oh, and it would be great if ya’ll could do some preview buddy icons without having to join meebo. Haha, I’ve got to agree with Shawn there. The blog idea makes me feel like part of the “meebo community”, wich I assume was the kind of effect you were going for. Having read through the majority of previous comments I have to agree that a more interesting background, perhaps an option of backgrounds, would be great.
I was thinking earlier about what msn has and meebo doesn’t, and I came across the fact that you are unable to ‘file share’ on meebo, whereas you can send pictures, videos, music etc on msn. I think that would be a great feature.
I just have one more point, on msn you have a ’screen name’ and a ’sub name’, one that goes beneath your screen name, isn’t shown in your conversations, but is visable in a person’s main msn window to both yourself and others. All meebo shows is a screen name, I was wondering whether you would be able to make meebo include the sub name as well? It’s not a necesity, just suggestion.

i know how to get icons any icon u want u go u to google images type in like hearts or jonas brothers or what ev then u click the lef button and click save image as the save it as like my icon or somthing then go to meebo then you go to ur icon near the top of ur page and click the little arrow thing and then u will see ur icons that u got with ur meebo and u see clear icon and costum icon u click custum icon and u will see a bunch of ur picturs click on the one u got from google and click on it and there is ur icon! I love meebo and use it daily. Any chance you will be adding email notifications? I’m thinking not, because I think that would require a download of the program. Not a bad option, for those of us who can download. The other thing is IM sounds, cant we have more options. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

There has obviously been some vital code deleted during the update of the site. From everyone I have spoken to we have all lost our contact lists, previous room list and the membership list in rooms has been reset.
The private rooms have all been deleted too. Furthermore the nicknames no longer work in private messages.
I’m hoping that whoever deleted that code with be sufficiently reprimanded, and the code put back to normal as soon as possible.

I recently discover meebo, and it’s really a good web-service. I just search something like “online messenger client” or “messenger client”, and found meebo on a topic.
IMO, meebo got so much new users in last few weeks because many people could afford buying notebook now, and at christmas many people bought notebook , corporate bought new computer in januar-februar (like me ^^), so many people were having wireless access, notebook => need IM online client because corporate and university restrict web access.

I find it entertaining the number of people who comment on Meebo and the diversity of it.Some of the comments commenting on the post, Others just commenting on Meebo or others asking for features such as Myspace or Facebook or wanting Meebo to work more closely with a certain protocol (such as the request for yahoo group chat), But I think Meebo is best at what it does and that’s bringing people together with a clear interface.

Hello, I am wondering how you guys are handling all that traffic?! How do you make sure you guys can handle it all? actually the increase in meebo users is probably because of the new program starting in high schools where each student recieves their own mac laptop. On these laptops students are not able to go on msn which results in them joining meebo!

this website is the best website ever 4 instant messaging ’cause if ur computer cant download yahoo, aim, msn, etc. then u can just go onto http://www.meebo.com and then sign into ur user account and be on aim, yahoo, msn, ect.

umm hey to everyone who is reading this. I think we should be able to block people from talking to us. this one guy asked me to have cam sex! UNNESSECERY! and discusting!!! so for peoples safety i think we should somehow beable to prevent certain people from talking to us. that way the guy wouldnt be able to talk to me. but if i block my friend cuz i am mad at her and then i am not mad at her i think we should be able to unblock people too. now i think you see my concern. thank you for allowing me to leave you guys this message.

I think you should make meebo more like aim…with a side panel….more fonts…..more colors……and make it more like aim…even the double amount of people would come on if you made it more like aim….seriously. And whenever i go on http://www.iconator.com if wont let me download a icon!! its really unfair! Please make it more like aim thats all im asking…just make it as a side panel…more fonts….more colors…..and more features…whenever i try to update my profile on aim…it gives me some really useless fonts and colors……we should have more choices……and whenever i try to press “set profile” it says “profile to long” and it deletes like half of the stuff i worked hard on…and im like WHAT!? i have friends that have longer profiles than me and there profiles arent even taht long!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE WORK ON IT!!!! thank you!! ur doing a pretty good job and everything else with the connections and etc. please read my suggestions remember what i said “double the ppl will come on your website if you make it more like aim”

Fantastic idea ! More room for improvement but fresh so far..it’s way better than messenger and best of all it integrates 6 IM networks into one application. Quick, easy and convenient. I like the chat logs and private rooms feature. I love it

Nice how you can see whether someone has you blocked, or on their list
