We received lots of good feedback after release 9. We pushed a few updates tonight (windows sometimes appearing off the edge of the screen, customized fonts not always compatible with emoticons, " and & appearing in away messages, etc). Thanks for the emails over the past few days; we hope we’ve been able to address most of the issues.
We’re already running with the next set of user-requested features. Individual sign off is at the top of the list as is the ability to log on with only one name and password. We also know that we need to improve our message notification system — flashing windows and buddy icons just don’t seem to cut it right now.
On a personal note, Sandy and I decided that for the holidays, we’re going to give each other a FULL DAY OFF. That means no peeking at a PuTTy console, no late night JavaScript changes, and no checking email. Seth has kindly promised to take us off speed dial for 24 hours and only call in dire emergencies (Seth will get a full day off too). What are we going to do on our day off? Sandy plans to “eat like a crazy Chinese woman” (she’s been losing weight recently). I’m hoping to dust off my rusty violin fingers — hopefully the neighbors won’t complain too much 
.
Hope all of you have some time to relax too. We’ve been surprised to see that the daily login activity hasn’t yet dropped this week. In fact, we hit another record day today. We’ll see what happens as the holidays approach.

Meebo is great! I use it daily! I am curious though… when someone signs off you can put your cursor over their name and their profile pops up with their status is “online.” Does this mean they’re invisible? Or when a person using a personalized message their status is away in the conversation box. Just curious.

i like meebo. but how can you sustain competitive advantage, even with almost daily updates? your tool can be copied easily … i have several ideas how to extend meebo into something very useful, incl. a business model. but the question remains how to protect to be copied too fast.
you need a barrier of entry, be it under
the form of technology for example, or a competitive advantage. Here the
competitive advantage would be time, but how fast would we go is unsure, and there’s no big barrier of entry.

First of all I wanna thank you guys for this excelent messenger software! I know that you’re putting your hearts into making this, it works very well, and above all, you think about us, users, and that’s very, very cool!

I am using meebo from my parents’ computer while being here for christmas, so no sign in drop from me. an increase rather, since usually I don’t use meebo.

well i normally use MSN web messenger (http://webmessenger.msn.com/) as they have alot more capabilities, such as multy chat and such, that meebo does not support, though MSN keeps kicking me off saying too many users, so i guess im useing meebo as a second resort to the real thing, but without it i woudl have to use somethign like e-messenger, that has now changed to http://iloveim.com/ another site like this one, but they have stupid pop ups that annoy me so out of all i have found, meebo is stable, thanks for that,
