The last few days have been especially fun (and busy) for the crew. We’ve been updating the emoticons and have had a lot of fun testing out the new smilies. We’ve just completed a smaller release full of bug fixes and other little features that we hope will improve your meebo experience.
As many of you might notice right away, we’ve added cookies that will remember your meebo username. Select the checkbox on the front page and you won’t have to type it every time. Next up is a brand new button on the IM dialog, complete with a palette of new emoticons (even a pirate… type P) ). Thanks again to Jenny, who did a fantastic job 
We’d also like to recognize zealivity5 again, for his meebo icon (type *meebo* )!
meebo has single sign-on, so it makes sense for us to have single sign-off! At the bottom of the buddy list, we provide a little menu to log off individual identities.
We’ve also included lost password functionality. For those of you who’ve forgotten your magic words, go to any meebo server (like http://www.meebo.com/lostpassword.html) and follow the instructions. We’ll include a link to it soon!
As always, I’ve made several tweaks in the backend to support all of our new and upcoming features. Keep the suggestions rolling, talk to you in a few more days…

however, it would be great if YM users could see the actual emoticons we send them using Meebo … my friend says instead of the laughing with tear(s) emoticon … she sees this in her YM window :’D

hi, great one. can i request one small thing: that :p shows the same icon as
currently :p shows nothing. just a small one, probably only take 5 minutes of your time?
as for a bigger one, how about remembering our default font and color too, so kinda like personal preference. i’m the kind who like identity, and i always use the same font and color when i type. i find it troublesome to keep changing that in every IM window.
overall however, meebo has been a blessing in a environment where all IM is blocked. thanks a lot. u guys rock !!!

hey, it would be very convenient if you could chose which messenger to appear invisible, sometimes i like to be invisible only on yahoo and vise versa, as opposed to now, you are invisible across the board

meebo is the only IM client I use now. Every now and then I have to argue with my friends why I don’t use other desktop clients.
The only thing that should go into your priority now, may be, is that meebo is lacking a nudge or buzz to send to your friends, waking them up or from my friends to wake me up!
Few years back I saw a funny javascript that could vibrate the whole browser…may be something that meebo could consider.

Was wondering why the display of names is different from the original i.e GTALK…. ive renamed most of the buddies in the original GTALK apps.. but meebo displays e-mail add and its rather confusing because i dont think many of us memorise email adresses, esp those “OUT OF THE WORLD” addresses. =) thanks

I think it would be great if meebo added contacts that add you. It tells you if a contact has added you and gives you accept/decline options but doesnt actually add the contact to your list (well in msn it doesn’t) this would be a useful feature maybe have a add to contact list check box, also the profile pages dont work due to msn integrating profiles with spaces maybe a contact card preivewer would be good — or just a link to the users space

That’s because the clientside use different emoticon systems. Meebo couldn’t possibly rip yahoo/msn’s emoticons off simply to satisfy the users

Flames_Him and cvh: It’s already been introduced. Just check the “My Meebo” window (click the smiley on the right in the contact list when you’re logged on)
sfong; good idea but in the mean time a better notification system (whatever it might be) IS coming very very soon
dee-d: That’s because G-talk saves your changes and shows them to you when you login with the “real” program. Meebo can’t store nicks/ids for buddys at the moment.
Chris; As far as i know, after you accept/decline it should put the contact on your contact list (if you accepted).

Meebo is getting better all the time! I love the new features.
The servers at work block traditional IM clients, so you guys help me stay in touch throughout the work day. They block them because they consider the file-transfer capabiltiies of regular IM programs to be a security risk. I know it has been suggested to add this feature to meebo, but PLEASE don’t or The Man will block meebo and I will once again be relegated to an dank, dark, IM-less existence.

New smileys appear to be broken (broken image tag) under https meebo but work okay under http meebo. Other icons (such as buddy icons) work fine in https.

ive been loving meebo ever since the first time it went out. i wanna congratulate all you guys for doing a fantastic job in creating meebo. thanks a lot for putting up with all the demands of the meebo users. this is really one cool creation!
by the way, i have a question. the first time i used meebo way back in December of last year, i added some new buddies to my yahoo account using meebo. however, their names did not show up in my list of ym buddies. up until now, i dont have their names listed in ym. do you have any tips on how to make their names appear in my list of ym buddies?

Also, I’d like to report a defect/bug…when I open a chat window restore down the main form, open another window chat and maximize the main form, the first window chat goes up hiding its top, and I can’t move its to reorganize the windows.

I’ve been using meebo for the last few days, because, like many people here, my workplace blocks IM (hope I don’t get fired). The smilies are cool but it would be nice if there was a way to turn them off, or make it so text is not smiley-ized if it’s in a url. A friend sent me the link

Meebo rocks, however a great addition to it, would be a sounds warning. If you use FF, it’s all good since you can see the tab flashing, but if you also use another software or use IE 6 and you have 2340987432 windows open, forget about noticing an incoming message.

I want an option to turn the emoticons off because I hate emoticons. They appear where they shouldn’t, like system messages. Also, what’s the point of having specialized smileys for meebo that users of other clients can’t even see? To someone using AIM, would look retarded and confusing.

Do these smileys work with AIM? Most people I talk to on meebo are on aim, and i dont want to send them a smiley that doesnt work. Which ones work? Good Work though. Also, meebo would be the best if you could get your own buddyprofile on aim. I hate having the blank profile.

Hmm since yesterday I’ve been experiencing problems logging into your site. I’ve been using meebo since December or so and everything has been functional (even with the firewall at work). But after the last bug fix, whenever I login, the window doesn’t update and I’m left with a frozen window with the status “Signing on. Please wait…” I see the meebo Blog dialog box turn up, but I don’t see the buddy list, etc. Any ideas on why this is happening? I’m running IE 5.50. Thanks!

Great to see the “remember me”.
I’m running meebo as an active desktop window that covers the desktop, so it’s almost like having a desktop client with my buddy list on the right, and then any chats will appear behind any windows that are running (better then having a small browser window).
Would be great to have a popup — e.g. using window.open() — facility for chat windows so they’re easy to spot.

Existen tres razones por las cuales puede ser engañoso el nivel de desempleo medido por la encuesta de población actual . las examinaremos.
EXPECTATIVAS POCO REALES DE EMPLEO. Si alguien esta dispuesto a trabajar, pero únicamente con un salario mas alto del que esta disponible, no tiene caso considerar a esa persona como desempleada.

¿CUALES SON LOS DIFERENTES TIPOS DE DESEMPLEO?
DESEMPLEO POR FRICCIÓN: Es el desempleo que surge del movimiento normal del mercado de trabajo. Este tiene dos causas, primero la gente esta constantemente cambiando sus actividades económicas: los jóvenes terminan la escuela y se unen a la fuerza de trabajo; las personas mayores se jubilan y dejan la fuerza de trabajo; algunas personas salen de la fuerza de trabajo. Segundo, la suerte de los negocios cambia constantemente: algunos cierran y despiden a sus trabajadores y empiezan a funcionar nuevas empresas y a contratar trabajadores.
DESEMPLEO ESTRUCTURAL: el desempleo que surge cuando hay una disminución de la cantidad de empleos disponibles en una región o industria en particular se llama desempleo estructural. Esa disminución puede darse debido al cambio tecnológico permanente; por ejemplo, la autorización de una planta siderúrgica. También puede darse debido a un cambio permanente de la competencia internacional; por ejemplo, la disminución del número de empleos de la industria del automóvil de Estados Unidos debido a la competencia japonesa.
DESEMPLEO CÍCLICO: Es el desempleo que se origina de una baja del ritmo de expansión económica. Este cambia constantemente: algunas veces es rápido, otras lento y, de vez en cuando, incluso es negativo. Cuando la economía se expande rápidamente, desaparece el desempleo cíclico, y cuando la economia se expande lentamente
¿CUALES SON LOS PRINCIPALES COSTOS DEL DESEMPLEO?
Existen cuatro costos principales del desempleo, que son:
Pérdida de producción e ingreso
Pérdida de capital humano
Aumento de la delincuencia
Pérdida de dignidad humana

Hi Sandy, how are you doing? am a regular user of meebo Y! messenger, and i am beginning to like it so much more. Its more convenient and user friendly, and believe me this is getting better and better.
I’ve got a suggestion. Hope it gets implimented. On a regular Y! messenger, everytime a message is received, the taskbar blinks..if this feature is added to Meebo, then its going to be the best.
Otherwise, I simply LOVEEEEEEEE Meebo!!!

How about making us able to chat with a few friends at the same time under one chatroom i.e. conference. It would be great if someone could take a look into this. soon. anyway, you guys are doing a fantatic job!!!

hey guys i love your website, i want to suggest one thing, please allow the cursor to initialize in the meebo username textbox as opposed to the aim textbox.

Another thing: I use firefox, the font size of my partner is too small in my screen and no change although he changes it. Any suggestion?

This site is awesome im using this for almost 5 months. You people are the best. Looking forward for the new features. I know it takes its own time. Please include more emoticons which displays the same meaning for all chat tools. This is just a suggestion.

my partner types with white font, he CAN change it but i dont think he should have to. can you make it so that i can click a btton for default font sizes of partners no matter what?

I really like this place, it’s nice, clean and above all it works. I really use meebo to contact people I want to talk to whitout all the hassle and extra features I don’t need. I like meebo’s simplicity and although some people tells me why don’t I use MSN or YM o whatever, I keep faithful to meebo. A few weeks ago I showed this place to a friend of mine and he loved it.
We cannot install anything in my work´s computers so, meebo is the answer to my prays.
I really was waiting for smileys to come, and finally they’re here, and they’re here to stay.
And yes, I also like the pir8.

Forgeting something. I know it not the place to ask but … could you add some kind of sound notification please, sometimes I miss the message on the taskbar I I’ve realized it sometimes takes maybe a minute to start showing it.

I think the meebo account is a great idea. Just as a subtle way to encourage people to sign up, you might consider having the cursor appear when the page loads in the meebo account login box instead of the IM login box.

I would like to be able to apload pictures just like on the regular messenger and use web cam through meebo messengers, that would be great. Also, there are still people who use icq, especially in my country, is there any possibility you could make the icq messenger too? Thank You very much!

I am one of the many users who go to meebo through https because my employer blocks the http address. The emoticons, as a result, don’t show up in the chat window for me.

i wanna make emoticons for aim/meebo, and idk how. but i want to make my own. Like an okapi(an animal) or a toilet, so when someone is typing for example:brb i have to go to the: then a picture of a toilet to resemble bathroom. of coarse who’d need to brb for JUST the bathroom, usually the toilet, so instead of a picture of a bathroom, a toilet!!! lol. and for the okapi, to resemble that some ppl like them.
