Some time on Monday, an unknowing meebo user opened up a web browser and decided to sign up for a meebo account. Little did he know, after the last click of the “Join” button, he created account number 500,000. Half a million! We’re going to shoot an email to the person who created that 500,000th account and send over a meebo t-shirt. Thanks!
Since meebo accounts have only been available for the last eight months or so, we’re really psyched about how many of you have joined, particularly since meebo doesn’t require any of you to create an account (psst, here’s where I remind everyone that accounts come with extra neat features like chat logs, changing your friendly name, and others 
).
500,000 is a great number and since it’s been a little while since we’ve shared the latest batch of our numbers, without further ado… here they are!
How many times do people login every single day? 950,000!! You may ask how many of those are “unique?” About 670,000. It turns out most of you happen to log in about 1.4 times per day. Oh, and here’s another interesting one… how many network accounts do you all log in with on average? Also 1.4…which means 1.35 million network ID are logged in daily.
Over 3.5 million unique individuals log into meebo every month, and on a daily basis you’re all sending and receiving a mere 57,000,000 messages. If you aggregate all of the time everyone spends in meebo on a daily basis? 64,000,000 minutes which calculates to approximately 122 years! WOW! (click here to see a graph) It turns out you’re all sending and receiving a message just about once/minute, and you’re staying on meebo an average of 70 minutes/session. Those are some pretty active IM sessions.
And how about meebo me, meebo’s latest twist on web IM? For being just two months old, you guys sure are using it a lot! You all have embedded 42,000 unique widgets. These widgets have been seen on 600,000 unique URLs by… (drum roll please)… 6,000,000+ unique people. Holy cow… that’s a lot of web-embedded IM chattering!
We really can’t say enough to thank you all for how much you’ve helped the team continue to grow and improve meebo. Thanks for all of your support, and remember to keep those bug reports and suggested features coming!

Hey, I’m on Meebo cause its seriously better than live messenger. I know its packed up with features but who needs when we’re working. We just need a simplified version like Meebo, not info on weather, not daily digest.

I picked up on Meebo because I wanted a MeeboMe on my blog … but I’ve been signing in with Meebo, AIM, Googletalk, & Yahoo … and nothing drops, nothing goes bonkers … it all just sits there in it’s little window all very well behaved!! (I’d also sign in with MSN but they messed my account up before I ever got started so eh who need’s ‘em?)
It’s sweet behavior is the reason I don’t use any other chat client now. THANK YOU!! (I use to test software … I know to get to this kind of stability and design, Ya’ll have been W O R K I N G !!!

As traffic increases, so does the cost (hardware, bandwidth, people)…and since you do not advertise, can you share how are you making your money…after all, the VCs and the angeles will not be there forever…or is your strategy to get acquired before the end of fall?
This is an important topic for many users who would like to know who will eventually control their user info, so can you dedicate a blog post and discuss this with your ‘investors’ (the users who invest so much time in meebo)?

I sometimes use meebo instead of Yahoo Messenger. I work in a library in the Philippines and when I am using meebo I use it discreetly so that our students would not know about it because chatting in the library is not allowed. This secret was kept for many months but yesterday, I discovered that many students were using it. Alas, they have discovered the wonderful thing called meebo. No wonder youre membership shot up. More power to meebo!

I’m in Hong Kong traveling, and I find Meebo the perfect choice for logging into various accounts from public terminals (although sometimes I have to access the site through IP since Websense blocks the URL). It’s about time someone came up with this service!

Meebo is pretty nifty. I recently started using it instead of Gaim or Trillian, because it\’s easier to use on multiple computers. No longer must I convince someone to install Gaim in order to sign on to all of my IM accounts, I can use meebo anywhere I can access a web-browser.

Hey, guys. You are doing great already but I think you should add a profile feature, I know you can already view others but you can’t really do your own, or is that what the “customized message” was? I thought that was an away message but I don’t know.

Hi Seth. Thanks for your GREAT work and service to us all. I am personally using meebo instead of commom messenger as the company I am working for does not allow messenger login through its network. And thanks to you I am able to stay in touch with my loved ones. What leste could be more rewarding to you ?

Well, I was the 501, 000 meeboite and my experience sucked. It messed with my zonelabs firewall, killed flash, so i reinstalled flash, my browser, fiddled with the firewall settings, etc. No dice…. Finally I reinstalled my firewall and all was well once again. It’s back to trillian and gtalk for me, such a shame, as i have so many im accounts, it would be nice to have them all in one place. I hate it when a program wastes three hours of my time……

I’m having an issue with meebo disconnecting… “INSTANTLY” if there is a loss of network connection, so I’m not using meebo much anymore. Sadly. It’s a great service, but since the network I’m on at work doesn’t like me at all, I can’t use it without losing all my hair. ^.^
