Look, the fact is the rest of the world doesn’t work like that. Most of us don’t have a truck of cash backed up to the door “on the hopes” that we can make a successful business.
Most of us go to offices everyday with walls, and cubicles, and dirty bathrooms. We sit in sheer silence except for the droning on of other co-workers about projects we don’t care about. Then occasionally management throws an Ice Cream party like somehow a couple gallons of cheap, melted ice cream will magically make the hell all perfect.
You people are nothing but braggarts. You’re rubbing it in our faces that you have such great lives and if we could all just live and work like you all, we’d be happier.
But, it’s not true. You people may hire 5 people this year. You’re constant talk of “looking for the best” gives all those people false hope. The fact is, most people are below average. Most people sit a desks for years during out bad code, and doing bad things because they’re average.
You all though, have done something special and have really good talent. If this were highschool, you all would be going some other school for “gifted” kids, while the rest of us slog away in the hell that this the middle. The rest of us suffer while you all revel in your “specialness”
So you know what, think about that before the next time you brag about how great it is to be you. Think about the rest of us, the average, the never going to amount to anything… Think about us and maybe you’ll hold your tounge.

I totally know how you feel. I used to be an insurance adjuster and I hated it. I decided to quit even though I didn’t have a back up plan – which EVERYONE told me was stupid. But I decided I’d rather take a “stupid” risk then waste my life in a job I didn’t enjoy. I went back to school and simultaneously started my own company with my husband using credit cards and a very small savings. Our company is very small but it is growing and we’re getting great media attention. We’re being featured on CBC television’s Fortune Hunters on Saturday Jan 19th at 6:30EST.
You only have one life and the only person that can ensure you enjoy that life is you. I’d rather have less money and do something I enjoy than waste my talents in a career I don’t enjoy.
And by the way, just like any start up, Meebo had to work their asses off to get where they are – not getting paid and investing everything into this idea. In their case it paid off. They deserve the success they are now enjoying. Keep it up, Meebo!

The fact here is, the success of this group of 2 dozen or so people is not the norm. They do not represent the mass majority of technical workers in any country. Their success is equated to privilege in this world.
Sure, I won’t disagree that they may have worked hard to get here. But, this isn’t a question of effort.
The fact is, so many toil without recognition and only to maintain their standards, that so see people such as these Meebo folks brag about their livelihoods and lifestyle is obscene.
Just looking at the backgrounds of the founders and first employees. These are people of privilege. The all attended an elite school that is not only academically rigourous but also highly expensive.
Now, given maybe every dollar of that tuition was in grants and scholarships and yes maybe they worked very hard to earn those degrees. But that just makes them the recipients of creator given privilege!
And then now for them to look down upon the rest of us, the state school graduates, the worked through college set, etc, etc and to say “Look how great it is” is just rude and just wrong.
It’s humbleness, plain and simple. These blogs aren’t humble. They scream of childish look how great am I and completely ignore the thankfulness they should have for the gifts given them.

BTW… it should be much easier to get information about each room. For example there is an information button on the top navigation bar in each window when chatting with a person. Why isn’t there an identical button when you open up a room? Why is the icon layout different in a room window and a “person chat” window? Is this bad “ergonomics” or is there a “plan?”
Specifically: The navagation bar at the top of the “Warriors Fan Site” is a single tier with first a picture, then name of the site, then buttons. If you click on this single tier it does not size up or down. The navagation bar in a chat window is double tiered. First tier is standard windows function template, second tier is meebo function template.
The double tier layout is far superior… except that the chosen image of the person you chat with is embedded in the text chat when it should be branded next to the persons screen name as it is in a room where the name of the room is next to where the image (brand) for the room is placed.

I love using meebo, but I hate the self-important meebo blog posts that pop up every time I log in. I don’t care about the office antics of the staff, the business-side updates, or the musings of the developers, marketers, founders, etc. I’m not here to participate in a community or get to “know” anyone at meebo. And really, I don’t care about the minute details of every update or new feature.
Anyway, I don’t see a place under preferences to shut the blog off. Is there a way? Do I have to be subjected to the blog every time I log in? It’s annoying enough that I almost want to stop using meebo.

Look, the fact is the rest of the world doesn’t work like that. Most of us don’t have a truck of cash backed up to the door “on the hopes” that we can make a successful business.
Most of us go to offices everyday with walls, and cubicles, and dirty bathrooms. We sit in sheer silence except for the droning on of other co-workers about projects we don’t care about. Then occasionally management throws an Ice Cream party like somehow a couple gallons of cheap, melted ice cream will magically make the hell all perfect.
You people are nothing but braggarts. You’re rubbing it in our faces that you have such great lives and if we could all just live and work like you all, we’d be happier.
But, it’s not true. You people may hire 5 people this year. You’re constant talk of “looking for the best” gives all those people false hope. The fact is, most people are below average. Most people sit a desks for years during out bad code, and doing bad things because they’re average.
You all though, have done something special and have really good talent. If this were highschool, you all would be going some other school for “gifted” kids, while the rest of us slog away in the hell that this the middle. The rest of us suffer while you all revel in your “specialness”
So you know what, think about that before the next time you brag about how great it is to be you. Think about the rest of us, the average, the never going to amount to anything… Think about us and maybe you’ll hold your tounge.

Hello, I’m having a problem with the display picture function. For some reason I can’t seem to add/change custom pictures. I wanted to change it, and in the process I clicked by accident one of the provided ones, and now I can’t get it off. The place “Custom Pics” or whatever is usually visible doesn’t say that any more. But, the option is still active. When you click on it, everything appears to be back to normal, but then when you choose one and hit Open nothing happens. I’ve tried refreshing it and signing in and out, using different windows- both ones previously existing, and new ones, but it just won’t change.
It would be awesome if you could get it fixed….
